Events and Meetings

SLAM works to deliver a full programme of events during the year which includes:

Of course, we'd be delighted for both members and non-members to join us at any of our meetings.

Dates for your Diary

Sunday 18 May, 9.00 and 10.30, Banstead

Motorway guidance (and assessed drives as usual) at Banstead. Places are limited on our popular motorway guidance course so book early. This is only open to associates and members, not the general public, and there is a small charge. This session involves a short presentation followed by an assessed drive with a Group Observer.

Tuesday 20 May, 7.45, New Malden

Robert Keep, Highways Agency Operations Manager will talk about the work of the Agency’s Highways Patrol Officers. Find out what they really do and hear about common issues with driving on our local motorways. You’ve probably seen the daft antics of some motorway drivers on the road or on TV, now come along to hear what the professionals see day-in, day-out.

Later, there will be a visit to the Motorway Control Centre at Godstone: come along to hear more and register your interest – numbers are limited so you’ll need to book.

Future plans ….

We have a number of other events planned for the future
including ...

  • Visit to Hampton Police Traffic Garage – date to be arranged.

The Garage is a major facility in the Group area and houses the Metropolitan Police collection of historic vehicles.
  • Visit to Godstone Motorway Control Centre.
  • Taking the Ferrari to Nice - SLAM Observer Chris Fowler tells all about his trip to the South of France.

What else?

What else would you like to see ? Have you been to a particularly interesting talk or presentation which others in the group might be interested in (it doesn’t have to be driving-related) ? Or maybe trips to motor museums or other events that you think we might all
enjoy ?

Please let us know! This programme of events is for you so we want it to cover the things you're interested in.
