During the Spring and Summer, we are typically found assisting
at Motoring Events, events such as ...
We can also on occasion be found at other fairs and shopping centres such Kingston. Kingston Crash Day SLAM was delighted to be able to support the London Safety Camera Partnership (LSCP), the Road Safety team at the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames and London's emergency services in a bid to reduce speed. The purpose of the 'Kingston Crash Day' was to highlight to the public the very real dangers of inappropriate speed and its obvious implications.A day of crash reconstructions, road safety exhibitions and competitions was held in Kingston on 3 April 2004, to coincide with the World Health Organisation's World Health Day who are making road safety a priority this year. In the reconstructions, casualties were cut free and treated from the crashed car and motor bike by officers from Kingston's Fire Service, London Ambulance Service and Metropolitan Police to demonstrate how they deal with the aftermath of serious road crashes.
James Parker, Road Safety Officer at Kingston Borough said: “We have been tackling speeding problems in the borough for some time and this realistic initiative will remind drivers of the consequences of driving too fast. This event is to reinforce the message that drivers can reduce the risk of being involved in collisions and causing injury to other road users, by simply slowing down.” Tom Duckham, LSCP Project Manager added: “There is no doubt that excessive speed kills. This is a valuable opportunity for us to remind drivers just how dangerous speeding can be and the potential tragic consequences. Since the speed limit was reduced on the A3 in Kingston to 50mph, we have seen a 41% decrease in the number of people killed and seriously injured - these figures speak for themselves.” Other Outdoor EventsOutside Events are held from late Spring into early Autumn. In recent years, we have had visits to car manufacturers such as Lotus, Aston Martin, Morgan, AC, Jaguar, and Caterham. Go-Karting Competitions have also been arranged, when we are contacted by challengers. |
